No Spend March!
So you might remember last October I declared it to be "No Spend October" which you can read more about here.
Well...I've done it again. Except this time, Jess at Tooth N Nails is going to do it with me! And we want you to join in with us!
Make up your own rules to this, but mine are:
-Anything non-essential is not allowed.
-Make-up is allowed, but only if I'm actually out, not if I see something that "looks cute"
-Clothing is completely out.
(I made an exception to this last year when I found some winter necessities on sale, and I'd probably do it again for some spring/summer dresses)
-Obviously, I still buy groceries, but I don't go through and be like, oh this looks yummy, I should try this.. I try to stick with essentials, and not buy 5 more of something I already have in my cupboard.
Basically, the idea is to cut out the fluffy spending.
Last October was kind of hard in the beginning, but I noticed I was much more cautious in the months after my "spending cleanse" so it definitely spills over into the future :)
So If you'd like to join us, use the hashtag #nospendmarch on Instagram or Twitter, and we'll be sure to follow along, retweet, offer support, and in return, you can keep Jess and I away from Target and online shopping!
And drop us a line in the comments so we can brag about how many of us No Spenders there are!
xoxo!

I'm in! I just got my tax return so I'm loving having all this money, but I need to keep it instead of spend it! :)

I love this idea! I feel like the key is not going to Target. If you can stay away from there you'll be able to keep your money, for sure! :) it's so tempting! good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm doing it!!!! I saw your post & was like, heck yes. Two others are suffering with me. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good idea! If I hadn't just moved, I'd totally participate! Good luck!!

I totally blogged about doing this too. Add one day a week you can't use your debit card!
ReplyDeletei wasn't ready but after my hubby asked WHY IS THERE A PIG ON YOUR COMPUTER (no yelling was involved...lol) he voted me in. minus the carabox, a tshirt and a sleepover i promised my cousins.
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny. I just emailed my husband today and said, "How do you feel about doing a "no spend month" every four months or so...starting in April?" Crazy. I was just sick about how much "fluffy" spending we did over the weekend and decided we needed to reign it in a bit. I think it's a great idea. This month is already out, we're on vacation for Spring break, but I'm excited to hear about how it goes for you and I'll be doing a "no spend" April!
ReplyDeleteI love LOVE this idea! I'm terrible at "fluffy" spending. Hubby and I do NOT eat out at all at this point. However, I have a grocery list that I shop by EVERY month. Example...I have 5 baby powders, 8 baby creams, 4 bum creams, 21 bars of baby soap, 4 baby oils and 4 shampoos. I buy this stuff even though I already have enough. I'm like scared of a Zombie apocolyps and I don't have the things I need. I've been getting better about eliminating buying unless I am out or do not have enough to comfortably get through until the next payday. It is definetly a learning process because I almost feel nervous and fearful if my cupboards are not stocked! I love this idea (I know I already said that) and will totally be joining in! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI am SO in on this. I was actually thinking of doing something similar this month and trying to think of a clever way to declare it so. I'm totally fine with adopting the #nospendmarch and joining on in. I'll post my 'rules' on my blog & link up later!
ReplyDeleteMy rules are here! http://lauriebreaker.blogspot.com/2013/03/no-spend-march.html
DeleteLove it. Thanks again for this... love to have some accountability partners for the month...
I totally want to do this, but there are still a few things I need to buy for my wedding!
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy. I am doing the SAME thing. I caved this weekend with beer date with my husband and we ordered a pizza - but nothing else :) Good luck!
